BREAKING NEWS: Chair Ms. Maroulla Gleaton Gets Chastized by Thirteen Maine Medical Board Members Who Formally Rally Behind Reinstating The Maine Medical License of Meryl Nass, MD
The Signed Letter to Board Chair Demands A Stop to Dr. Nass' Continued Suspension, Cites it "Is Equivical to Harrassment and A Personal Political Agenda" - WHAT YOU CAN DO: Write a Letter of Support
Clearly, it is better for a doctor to save their patient’s lives than to kill them from an opioid overdose.
And if you're a Board Chair of a state medical board entity, you can make a doctor's life miserable if you don't agree with the use of ivermectin or hydroxychloroquine to save lives during a pandemic.
Those are the two main the bottom lines here, and the medical board members have called it out.
Tired of seeing Dr. Nass being dragged through their legislative review for yet another year, they demand that Board Chair Gleaton put aside her apparent personal harassment and make a “quick determination” to reinstate Dr. Nass’ medical license.
Yesterday, Dr Nass learned that 13 members of the Maine legislature protested her treatment in a formal letter.
Dr. Nass’ immediate responsse is that it:
“Makes me happy.”

What Dr. Nass Did
Dr. Nass was investigated for prescribing hydroxychloroquine for Covid, but sending the electronic prescription to the pharmacy for the diagnosis of Lyme Disease, which was a lie she admitted to the pharmacist. When the pharmacist called Dr. Nass to clarify the prescription, Dr. Nass admitted to assigning the ICD-10 Code for Lyme Disease to the patient, because it was the only way to try to save the patient's life.
Board Members cite Dr. Nass is:
“…one of the most highly esteemed and tenured physicians in Maine. She has a career dating back decades, including not only prestigious and acclaimed research but also a spotless record of patient care. Dr. Nass is a physician who rightfully chose, within the proper scope of practice, to place the medical needs of patients first and foremost by treating patients with therapies that worked and saved lives. Some doctors in Maine overprescribed opioids that went on to kill Mainers, and yet they have not face (sic) the scrutiny or suspension that Dr. Nass has faced.
Notably and as with many targeted doctors in the medical freedom movement, none of Dr. Nass’ patients complained to the Board about he.
And no one suffered harm.
What's Next
The Chair should respond in writing. And then the Board Chair will either call a special session or wait until the currently scheduled session, meet, and hopefully, will then make an expedited determination.
The letter implies that the Chair has the authority to pick on doctors, drag them through unnecessary and expensive litigation, and ban them from practicing- purely by their own whim.
Robert's Rules of Order cite that in any regular Board Meeting, the Chair calls the Agenda. The date and time are set. When the meeting opens, attendance is taken. As soon as the Board attendance establishes a quarum with 50% of its members in attendance, the meeting officially begins and the time is noted for the minutes. When it comes to a discussion of Dr. Nass and the above letter, I imagine it will take just one Board Member to put forward a motion to dismiss her case. If another Board Member agrees, they “second” the motion, it becomes reality.
All this follows the Bylaws of the organization, and it could be that the Board votes on any number of possible outcomes as a next step for Dr. Nass. They could call her in for a special session, move up her next scheduled appearance date, or perhaps make a decision without any further ado.
What You Can Do
I am thinking that it would be excellent to have Chair Maroulla Gleaton receive supporting letters from all over the country and the world!

Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine
Ms. Mareulla Gleaton, Chair
137 State House Station
Augusta, ME 04333-0137
Dear Chair Gleaton,
This letter constitutes a letter of support for Dr. Meryl Nass’ medical license reinstatement.
Your recent decision to continue proceedings to suspend the medical license of Dr. Meryl Nass are inappropriate, vindictive, and must be stopped.
I believe that if your own medical board members see you are apparently harassing her with a personal political vendetta against her, you should listen to them.
I don't understand how Maine can afford to lose a physician of Dr.Nass’ esteem and tenure. Dr. Nass has such a prestigious background in research, clinical care, and has no patient complaints or causation of medical harm. During Covid, she simply chose her patients first.
In Maine, you have doctors who overprescribed opioids, killing their patients. Dr. Nass is not in the same category as them, yet you drag her through your system.
I don't see Dr. Nass is getting either fair or the timely, expeded treatment of due process that is the foundation of every court.
It is outrageous in the extreme that you set a final determination date of April 25, 2025!
Perhaps when you first investigated Dr. Nass’ license, her chosen therapy was too novel for that time. However, her chosen treatment plan is perfectly acceptable within the realm of alternative treatments.
I ask you to immediately expedite Dr. Nass’ suspension hearing, make a final determination, and let Dr. Nass to immediately return to practicing medicine.
Sincerely,
___________
And if you can, please use the same address and mail a Thank You Letter to each of the Board Members!!
~ because hardly anyone ever says, Thank You!’
Thank you for helping Dr. Nass today!
