Many of us watched LIVE as Damar Hamlin collapsed after a hit to the chest, and rather than first jump to any conclusions on his diagnosis, here are my most important thoughts:

Everyone prayed. The field was full of football players on bended knee.

Breathtakingly and within seconds, the audience and players prayed. All over the world, millions prayed and continue to pray. In the first 24 hours, $5 million of charitable donations went to Hamlin’s favorite charity, toys for children in his neighborhood.

Former NFL player Emmanuel Acho wrote,

"The level of unity, over Damar Hamlin, in an often divided world, is awe-inspiring,"

"By this, all men will know that you are My disciples if you have love for one another." 

It’s easier to love when we are not harmed or insulted. It’s much more difficult to love our enemies, especially those who harm others who are innocent, such as women and children.

It’s also easy to blame those we hate.
