In medicine, there is a dry humor we all acquire, one that may seem harsh or irrational to outsiders. However, we all went through horrible things over the last two years - and we can understand this video that both makes us cry and smile.

I think this song was written in fun, as a coping mechanism for all of us to use, and that it does a good job of mixing a beautiful and positive melody with new words.

I love the references to Substack and to Twitter, and the only disappointment I have is that I didn’t earn a place for my picture to be there with the great, brave doctors that led the way for the rest of us. I know that I didn’t do that much, so I really don’t mind having little to no recognition. I’ll always feel that gosh, I could have put myself out there earlier, said more, gone on shows or started my own show earlier. But I’m here now.

How many other doctors will lose their jobs anyway, or go through a divorce, or lose their children’s respect, because they didn’t do the right thing at the right time? How many of their patients died? I pray for all doctors daily, because the suicide rate has always been higher than the average population … and I think we have not yet seen a spike in physician suicides, because things are still getting worse. Hospital deaths continue, the Public Health Emergency continues to fund Hospital Hostage situations, and 1,000 hospitalized patients are STILL dying per DAY.

This song is a salute to all independent thinkers who found their own way, while walking alone through a blaze of information and disinformation, pressure, family fights, and potential joblessness.

It is a real tribute to those who had the wherewithal to question reality that presented from the exterior, but who instinctively knew there was another truth that arose from within … a truth that could not be silenced.

Not by anyone.
