Ascension Health Continues to Deny Culpability for the Death of Grace Schara
Flush with Billions in Cash, American Medical Conglomerate Aims to Evade Accountability in Landmark Lawsuit Over Death of Disabled Wisconsinite
FREEDOM, WI — Ascension Health, a lucrative but tax-exempt healthcare conglomerate under increasing Congressional and media scrutiny for its failures to provide adequate medical care at many of its hospitals, has issued a startling response to a landmark lawsuit regarding its role in the death of Grace Schara, a 19-year-old with Down syndrome.
The lawsuit (Case Number 2023CV000345), filed by Scott Schara—Grace’s father and the Administrator of her Estate—alleges that her death at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton, WI was the direct result of medical staff administering a lethal combination of drugs well-documented to hasten severe hypoxia and result in death.
The litigation also alleges that the hospital’s staff refused to perform lifesaving measures such as CPR, and that one of the victim’s physicians had fraudulently designated her as a “Do Not Resuscitate” (DNR) patient.
Scott Schara, after being removed from the hospital by an armed guard, was then forced to watch his daughter die over FaceTime as Ascension’s medical staff abjectly refused his and his family’s repeated requests to save her life.
Ascension’s response was filed in the Circuit Court of Outagamie County, WI, on May 15th.
The tax-exempt and suspiciously profitable healthcare juggernaut—flush with billions of dollars of cash received through CARES Act “bonus payments” and “COVID death payments” funded by the American taxpayer—continues to deny any responsibility whatsoever for Grace’s disturbing death.
Ascension’s response reads like a classic case of “blame the victim”—even going so far as to suggest that Grace, a 19-year-old with Down syndrome, was responsible for her own death.
Summary Revelations
Ascension suggests that Grace Schara may have been responsible for her own death.
Ascension insinuates that Scott Schara, her father and the case’s plaintiff, may have been responsible for her death.
Ascension also claims that “nurses and hospitals have no duty to obtain a patient’s medical informed consent under Wisconsin law”.
Ascension claims that “it does not provide health care services; it does not employ health care providers nor did it employ anyone who rendered care to Grace Schara at any time material”
While outwardly preposterous, Ascension’s bid to avoid accountability fits a pattern of malfeasance that is coming under growing scrutiny by the media and lawmakers alike.
The conglomerate has recently been accused by Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) as “operating like a private equity fund” for “squeezing staff, closing facilities, and extracting cash from its member hospitals for dubious ‘management fees’” to “advance its investment activities and provide compensation to its executives.”
Likewise, a 2022 exposé by The New York Times which brought Ascension’s malfeasance to a wide mainstream audience notes that the big-money medical system:
“… spent years reducing its staffing levels in an effort to improve profitability, even though the chain is a nonprofit”;
that it “cut staff to skeletal levels, often at the expense of patient safety”;
that in numerous cases its “patients lingered for hours on gurneys with serious, time-sensitive problems”;
that it suffers from a “lack of transparency,” even as its profits have “soar[ed] sixfold in its first decade” to a revenue position “rivaling that of corporations like General Mills and Gap”;
and that it avoids more than “$1 billion a year in federal, state, and local taxes” even as it “runs an investment company that manages more than $41 billion.”
This brave reporting, among many other such examples, paints a troubling picture of a “Catholic” hospital system run like a Wall Street firm—with self-enriching executives as the only winners, even as patients and victims like Grace Schara continue to suffer.
Anthony Tersigni, Ascension’s previous chief executive, once claimed in 2007 that “we’re not a business.” It is interesting to note that Mr. Tersigni was then paid $11 million in his first year to lead Ascension’s investment arm.
Also of note in Ascension’s legal response this week is the lack of a countersuit on the grounds of libel, slander, or defamation against Scott Schara, despite the fact that Scharahas launched a much-publicized, six figure billboard campaign in the Appleton, WI area.
He has been accusing Ascension and various parties of murdering Grace, including through his appearances on hundreds of media outlets.
As Scott Schara v. Ascension Health et al. proceeds over the coming weeks and months, the media and public will receive increasing amounts of explosive information, likely including direct whistleblower testimony, regarding Ascension’s “Big Money”—but “Small Morals”—activities.
The American public seeks a straight answer from Ascension on one key question: “Who killed Grace Schara?”

WHAT I REALLY THINK
For first-time readers who do not know my style, this is my editorial and opinionated section. I am commenting on my experience as a Minister, patient, physician, and a rebel who almost died at the hands of many doctors. Thank you for letting me speak my mind.
On many different fronts, I am personally ashamed of Ascension. On a spiritual, medical, and intellectual basis, they only have one of a few positions to take. As with those who note that Christ was either telling the truth, lying, or a lunatic, which one of these is Ascension?
Catholicism. My father was a devout Catholic and devoted to the Church. But he would have shaken his head in disbelief at Ascension’s surprising stance. To deny employing health care workers who caused a disabled young woman’s death?
What a sideways slip of the hand - at the very least, it is robotic, brazen, and inhumane. Exactly who told the attorneys to take this position? Shoudn’t The Catholic Church intervene? This case runs the risk of turning people away from not only the Catholic Church, but all churches - especially those who already think God is a joke.
A review of the medical records must have shown that Scott’s position has 100% merit. They should express sorrow for Grace’s death and then simply settle the case. Why would they not settle? Because the evil forces think this is a game?
If a spiritual entity denies Truth, then it is not spiritual.
Mistakes. Even without religion, all hospitals make mistakes. By definition, a mistake is unintentional. Spirituality aside, if the medical record shows an “error” was made and the doctors did not resuscitate Grace when they should have, then the hospital just has to admit it. After all, doctors make mistakes all the time and it would not be the first time someone died because of a doctor’s mistake.
If a mistake was made, the case would be settled. But they are not arguing the merits of the case. They are not admitting to making any mistake.
Maybe they know it was not a mistake - it was intentional, a repeated practice that was not an isolated case in this or any other US hospital.
So if it wasn’t a mistake, what was it?
Killing Protocol. We know there are killing protocols that highly reimburse hospitals for a variety of things, including “unvaccinated” “COVID” deaths. And that if COVID was a “contributing” cause of death, a doctor is allowed to instead state it was the “#1 Cause of Death.
Hmmm. But this doctor didn’t lie like that. COVID pneumonia was listed as a #2 Cause of Death, with the #1 Cause of Death being Acute or Sudden Respiratory Failure. Hmmm. And the respiratory failure was due to the drug cocktail Grace was given, so it was iatrogenic or physician-induced. Wouldn’t that possibly be an intentional murder, if they knew what they were doing and let her die on purpose? Yes.
Ascension is boxed into knowing someone caused Grace’s respiratory failure. By the medical record showing the sequence of events and the nursing reaction when Grace turned cold, a reasonable person would say, yes, Grace stopped breathing because she got an overdose.
The hospital is not arguing this point, as if they know she was over sedated. If they know she was over sedated to cause her death for federal monies (and they know we know about this), then maybe the evil, satanic hospital executives and investors, the WEF and Schwab robots, want the world to see that all the conspiracy theories on Hospital Killing Protocols were and are true.
Maybe it is time for the truth of Hospital Killing Protocols to be unopened.
Another Killing Protocol. Once Grace stopped breathing, the failure to perform CPR also killed her. After all, what jury would fail to see the guilt on the part of the hospital when the parents are begging for Grace to be resuscitated? By doing so, any supposed DNR order was automatically rescinded.
Ascension is boxed into knowing the medical team should have started CPR. A reasonable person would say, yes, those are the rules - any DNR can be reversed at any time in all hospitals in the entire USA.
The hospital is not arguing this point, as if they know CPR should have been initiated.
Again, maybe the hospital wants the world to know they are allowed to kill patients (for money).
Ascension’s Position. They are not taking a high road. They are taking a low road. I am sorry for my opinion, but it appears Ascension has washed their hands of Grace’s death. Like Pontous Pilate, they are stepping back and looking elsewhere - but instead of looking at the audience calling for murder, they are looking up at their superiors who do so. And perhaps also the government, who no longer cares if we publicly know what they know we have known.
As with “useless eaters” who deserve to eat insects, maybe it is time for the satanic evil of euthanasia to be known:
As stated in HHS documents, those who are “noncontributors” to society do not deserve and are not entitled to medical care. Maybe it’s time for us to get used to this new trend.
Instead of taking a position on “what happened” in any fashion or form, they are taking a position that it’s “not our problem”. They are removing themselves from the health care aspects.
IF NOT FOR HEALTH CARE, WHAT COULD ASCENSION BE?
Removal of a hospital from health care. Is this a death facility? A “UN-hospital”? Is its purpose to cause death, and not promote life? If so, they can just tell us - but they are looking scarily as if this is their perception (and ours): to kill.
If they are not a hospital, they need to remove that category from all their legal standings and redefine themselves as a for-profit business.
A business. If they are not in the business of healing, but rather in the business of making money, then they need to lose their non-profit status and pay taxes like everyone else.
