Calvinist Protestant (of 4 centuries of same) here. Considered that the whole ecumenical movement from 1950's on was not organic, but political, imposed from above (not God's "above"). Watching, these last 15-ish years, what has been going on in "the Christian Church". In past 3 years discovered Substack, and the community of believers which it hosts. Just in last few months (weeks?) have mused that perhaps a new, fresh, vibrant iteration of "the one, holy, catholic and apostolic church" is being born here, right here, in the digital aether. This time, organic, and dynamic. "Wherever two or three are gathered in my name...."
🙏 AMEN! 🙏 I see some who started with a few “Likes” and are now re-stacking by adding their own comments. Upon making a call for repentance and the forgiveness of sins through the Blood of Jesus, I see a far more “Likes” and “Comments” in agreement. And whereas before, almost no one spoke of prayer (eGod), now I see THE LIGHT OF BOLDNESS FIGHTING BACK AT THE DESTRUCTION OF DARKNESS!
Just as God has won, our words have won at WINNING MORE SOULS, Gaining more Faith, and Spreading the Love of Jesus through the Gospel of Truth!
May we keep sharpening one another’s swords! And if we sharpen and sharpen, we get to see… a mirror.
Nice metaphor in that last line. I'm New England-born (those 4 centuries earlier alluded to). We of that culture do not speak of our faith; we hold it completely private. Even between husband and wife, though we chose each other in good part because of denominational/doctrinal agreement (my grandfather having held that marriage is difficult enough without differences of religion and politics). But I find myself opening up my soul to others in this substack space. No longer embarrassed to say, "I'm praying for you".
Politics not private, only religion. Cannot of course truly speak for others, but in extended family/families, rarely heard religion discussed-politics, yes. Have not truly lived in New Eng. for 47 years, also, so have no idea of the “temperature”.
That is a very beautiful way to look at everything through the filter lens of looking within as God's representatives 🙏
