Margaret, when I saw your previous story on this, my first gut reaction was that this was an elaborate staged event by Hamas, something they are VERY well known for.. (Arab version of HollyWood special effects)..
But I decided to hold off and wait for more information..
And it's nice, tragic as all of this human suffering is, that my initial reaction proved correct.
We should also not forget that it was Hamas, one year ago, that executed 1,300 Israeli unarmed civilians, many at very close range (as well as the longer range missles they shoot at Israel out of Gaza.
People should also remember that, since 2005, not one Jew has lived in Gaza. That was the deal that Israel made with the Gazan Arab leadership. And the response was "forever war" against Israel.
A lot of people enjoy citing theories about Netanyahu opening the gates to Hamas via the gigantic security lapse, thus making the attack Israel's fault..
But how many of us would actually blame ourselves for inadvertently forgetting to lock our doors at night, permitting an armed robber to enter our homes?
Certainly, that would be an act of negligence.. But WHY SHOULD we need to lock our doors at night? Why can't we leave the keys in our cars unattended?
Why do the Israelis have to put up a border wall with Gaza, with flawed security technology?
I grew up in a community where such "negligence" was common. We didn't feel constantly threatened by criminals and murderers. And most families were sufficiently armed that if any such criminal broke into our homes, they would be leaving on a stretcher, or in a hearse.
My prior comment was an (unsuccessful, apparently) attempt to point out that those who are justifying the nation state called Israel's formation and its "right to exist", its occupation of and now intent to ethnically cleanse the people of Palestine (including homes, land, resources and the imprisonment of the remaining population into smaller and slammer ultra-controlled "open air prisons", endless altercations with the people of Palestine (whom they have deemed animals, sub-humans, "terrorists", etc. while proclaiming its intent and publishing maps of "greater Israel" showing the addition of lands from surrounding peoples, it's repeated war crimes and its unilateral reliance upon and involvement with the United States in its activities while it "hides" under the umbrella cause of "Anti-Semite Jew Haters") is founded on a misunderstanding of biblical truths and disclosures. NO NATION STATE has a "right to exist" no matter what fraudulent, globalist totalitarian conspiracy of wealthy technocratic elites acting through their sock puppet organization of the UN (formally League of Nations) may decree. PEOPLE have a "right to develop" and to "thrive" and to pursue life - nations, which are self-declared, then bolstered by the use of force, usually lethal (like the US displacing indigenous peoples, repeatedly violating "agreements" forced upon them, and ethnically cleansing them while simultaneously claiming that the US is a covenant nation under God). When oppressed, regardless of which conquering empire so decides, when the right to liberty, property and life are taken by force from them, it is logical that the response would be to resist and fight against the occupying/invading force and for radical extremists to rise out of the populous (especially when funded and used by the occupier to conveniently harass other surrounding nations that are already there and opposed to the occupation, destruction and diminishment of a people group, and to maintain a constant tension between occupied and occupier for the purpose of the long slow and deliberate elimination/extermination of them. Not surprisingly, now that the same tactic is being employed across the Western nations (that of purposeful immigration by foreign non-assimilating forces who are hostile to the native citizenry for the purpose of warring against them and displacing them and establishing a new identity and purpose for the former nation, while those honoring the 2nd amendment provisions prepare for militia style defense of life, liberty and property), they are also supporting a like conflict in at least two (overtly -- more covertly) locations abroad (Ukraine & the nation state calling itself Israel). Since what the bible defines as a "people group," etc. as previously defined and disclosed and those nomenclatures have been, in modernity, been [mis] understood and applied differently for the ease of equating a self-proclaimed and self-named UN blessed "nation state" means something quite different, justification for a "right to exist" and a "right to extinguish" other (multi-religious, multi-ethnic) people groups (who have no nation state status but who by virtue of long occupation and previously peaceful existence) then there is no justification for continued support of the occupying force as a governmental structure, especially when part of its initial charter was to not molest indigenous populations. I would make the case that billions of dollars spent to continue multiple wars, conflicts, assassinations, uprisings,(many of them done by the U.S./ CIA as part of color revolutions, etc. as well as the training and radicalization of "terrorist groups" to maintain constant instability in the middle east), etc. COULD be used to arrive at a peaceful solution. THe technology and intelligence possessed by more than one large nation applied judiciously could resolve these decades long areas of impasse and in fact preserve PEOPLE GROUPS, whether or not actual "nation states" remain in existence as presently defined. THe usurper has not acted alone -- a long history of British (City of London-overseen) occupation, conquest and colonial governance over most continents in the world for centuries does not justify a continuation of the perpetuation of hostilities in areas deemed valuabel for resources or for colonization. ANY people group (no matter what nation state) who do not resist the invasion and conquest/confiscation of their liberty and property and lives is a people group who are already dead. The Arab states are no exception -- other than the fact that that to the extent they have been unsuccessful at weeding out the radical elements within their borders makes them at least complicit in the ongoing suffering and devastation being purposefully waged by the occupying force in the land of Palestine and makes them targets of a sort for ongoing inclusion in the instability and unrest that plagues that area of the world....by design. The saddest part of this is that the purposeful division caused between people over the ongoing and repeated use of dualistic (arbitrary, misleading) "choices" -- that is, forcing people to choose one side or the other, when both "choices" are wrong, simply reveals the uninformed and emotionally infantile state of most of the world beat down by industrial strength propaganda, pre-programming, and mind control at a global scale. The course of action is clear -- we must be peacemakers or ourselves suffer annhilation - there is no other solution.
