Well we can rule out the flat spin theory from viewing the video. In a flat spin, the nose and tail of the aircraft would be turning violently in a circle, much like a playful dog chasing its tail. This aircraft was diving nose first at the ground, with no parts of the airplane spinning.
Humid air below 32 degrees F can form ice. (Rain happens because as the humid air cools to 16 degrees F ice needles begin forming, each of which has a + end and a - end. The needles attract each other, + to -, forming snowflakes that are much heavier than air. As the snowflake falls into moist air, it takes in heat by melting, that condenses more water making the raindrop bigger.
Now in the case of a cold airplane flying through moist air, ice needles do not form. A skin of ice forms on the airplane and continues getting thicker. As it thickens it adds weight, until the engines can no longer bear the load. At that point the plane begins falling
